    VITA Training 9:00 AM
    Professional Development Center (NORCO)
    Friday, January 4, 2019, 9am – 3pm

I would like your help in letting our students know about the opportunity to volunteer with this year’s VITA program.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a free tax preparation service for low income (less than $70,000) individuals/families and elderly.

Students from all disciplines are invited to volunteer to work on campus as tax preparers during the upcoming tax season.

Students will be trained, so no prior knowledge of income tax preparation is required. Moreover, students determine the amount of volunteer time they can commit to preparing taxes. And rest assured, these trained students will not be held liable for any mistakes in preparing the taxes as all returns go through a strict quality control process to ensure accuracy.  Also, Professor Dana White (Accounting) will be present on site serving as the site supervisor.

Our VITA site will be open Mondays and Fridays from 10:30AM – 2:30PM starting January 28 – April 15.

There are three training dates one of which will be held at Norco College January 4 and 5 from 9AM – 3PM, Room TBD.

    Students can register at bit.ly…

There are several benefits in participating in VITA such as:

    - Serves as a nice addition to their resume
    - At the end of the season they will receive certificates of participation from the County of Riverside, IRS, and the Franchise Tax Board.
    - There’s a nice end of the season luncheon where students are invited and recognized.
    - Networking opportunities with the IRS, State Board of Equalization and County of Riverside
    - A tremendous amount of hands on experience preparing tax returns.
