Nancy Quiñones

Dr. Nancy Quiñones began her career in higher education in Student Development and has worked with First Year Experience, Student Transition, Engagement and Retention and Multi-Ethnic programs, Health Services, Career Services, and Women's Resource Centers. Dr. Quiñones stepped away from her administrative career to pursue her Ph. D. in Cultural Studies at Claremont Graduate University. Her research focuses on notion(s) of belonging and the formations of national identity. She is particularly interested in the intersections of power, ideology, ethnic/social/political/ cultural identity. Dr. Quiñones is particularly focused on exploring the epistemological and ideological influence of the innocuous – cultural narratives like humor, satire, religion, religious texts, music, children’s television, ice cream, etc. – in our everyday. Dr. Quiñones teaching career began in the Ethnic and Women’s Studies Department at California Polytechnic University Pomona and is currently and Assistant Professor in Ethnic Studies at Norco College in Norco, California
