Student Services

Alex Spencer is an Educational Advisor in the Engagement Center. Alex, who is an RCCD alumnus, is committed to student success, access, and equity. He understands the barriers many students face seeking higher education and helps his students navigate through the often-difficult processes and procedures of the college system. He guides students on their educational pathways, examining their career options, and connects them with academic support as well as basic needs.

Alex has been involved with the classified community since he came to the college and presented his first workshop. He then joined the Classified Professional Development Committee and later became a CPROS representative on IEGC and the Classified Senate. Alex is a friend to fellow classified pros, encouraging his peers to attend workshops and participate in activities, and being there for all who need an ear or a friendly smile. His easy-going style, inclusiveness, and collaborative efforts make him an ideal member of the classified family.

Alex was selected as the 2023 Classified Professional of the Year.​

Alex’s nominator writes, “Alex is student centered personified. He is all about helping students reach their goals. I have never seen him in a bad mood or not focused on genuine human interaction. He is an example to all of us.”

Alex goes above and beyond to be the kind of person who seeks to lift up our students and help to shepherd them along the path. As a first generation, RCCD Alumnus, and accomplished scholar, he overcame life’s challenges to be the successful public servant he is today. We are fortunate to have Alex as a member of our Mustang community.
