Exhibition Dates: September 8, 2025 - October 15, 2025
Opening Reception and Artist Talk: Wednesday, September 24, 2025, 12:30pm - 2pm

About the exhibition:

Come to Life, Again explores the ephemeral nature of photography and the modes in which memory is transient, rather than permanent, with each of the works hinting at our complex relationship with time, memory, impermanence, and loss. Highlighting several long-term projects, this exhibition showcases a variety of experimental photographic media, including disappearing photographs, Polaroid photograms, lumens, video installation, and both fixed and in-process cyanotypes. The combination of works that are permanent, fading, or forming over time, invites viewers to witness images in various stages of their life cycles.

Steck is a first-generation graduate who received his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. He also earned a Professional Program Certificate from the New England School of Photography and, before that, attended Wright Community College in Chicago. Steck is currently in his eleventh year as an educator, where he holds the positions of Photography Coordinator and Senior Lecturer for the Center for Visual Arts at Johns Hopkins University.

Steck’s work can be found on his website.
