Experience

Dr. Jason Parks began serving as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs at Norco College in June 2022. Dr. Parks served the college valiantly as Dean of Instruction for the Schools of STEM and Business & Management and is well known for masterfully maintaining enrollment data with weekly Monday updates. Through his leadership, the college has gained significant strides with Guided Pathways, expanded recognition with NASA SUITS, and partnered with UC Riverside’s Bourns College of Engineering to guarantee transfer for our students. Among many notable accomplishments, Dr. Parks was instrumental in leading the development of the Rising Scholar Program (prison partnership).

As the Dean of Instruction, Dr. Parks oversaw the newly created School of Business and Management and School of STEM and a multi-million dollar Engineering Pathways Grant.  In his role as Dean of Instruction, he oversaw the construction of the schedule of classes for each of the four terms as well as the building the College Catalog.  He also took the initiative to establish Norco College's Next Phase Program, a partnership with the California Rehabilitation Center, and providing education to inmates nearing release and/or parole.  He also helped to build Norco College's new Dual Enrollment Program with local high schools, establishing the foundation for a program now serving more than 500 students.

A Faculty member in mathematics for 12 years at Norco College, Dr. Parks has served Norco College as an Associate (Part-Time) Faculty and Tenure Track/Tenured faculty.  In his role as tenured, he served as a Co-Chair of an accreditation committee, resulting in the initial accreditation of Norco College the 112th Community College in California.  He served as Department Chair for Math and Science for seven years, as Academic Senate Vice President for three years, and Chair of the Academic Planning Council for five years.  During this tenure, he facilitated mathematics articulation agreements with two local high schools, allowing students to seamlessly progress from high school courses to college level courses; worked with the Dean to redesign the construction of the schedule of classes; and assisted in the establishment and growth of the partnership between Norco College and John F Kennedy Middle College High School.

Dr. Parks has established himself as a steadfast advocate for students and student success.  He is dedicated to the success of students and believes in the mission of the community college, providing a path to education and social mobility for all students, especially those from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.
