Experience
Albert Jimenez has 15 years of experience in managing, administering, supervising and designing student success centers and academic programs. He has served at El Camino College Compton Center in a faculty position as Student Equity Activities Coordinator. Prior to that, Albert served as the Student Success Center Instructional Specialist overseeing the operations of the Student Success Center at El Camino College Compton Center, as well as serving as the Supplemental Instruction Coordinator and Basic Skills Initiative Coordinator. Albert also has many years of experience as a Tutorial Services Specialist at Mt. San Jacinto College.
His instructional background consists of teaching tutoring training, human development and guidance courses at the community college level. He has presented at a variety of tutoring/learning assistance conferences such as the International Supplemental Instruction in Seattle, WA and the highly recognized Association of Colleges for Tutoring and Learning Assistance in San Diego, CA this past spring 2018. He holds a Master of Arts in Education from Azusa Pacific University and a B.A. degree in History from UC Berkeley. In 2015 Albert was a co-author on the following report entitled, “Still Falling through the Cracks: Revisiting the Latina/o Education Pipeline". The report is part of a series of reports that have sought to address critical issues related to the Latina/o education pipeline and to provide policy recommendations to improve educational access and opportunity for Latina/o students across the United States, with a particular focus on California. In addition, Albert is currently finishing up an Educational Leadership Doctorate at CSU Long Beach and his dissertation topic focuses on the “Impact of the Student Success Initiative and Basic Skills Students at California Community Colleges".
Albert has two sons, 23 (Justin) and 8 (Jaiden), a German Shepard pup named Jonah and enjoys traveling, reading history books, golf, running, baseball and loves boxing.
