Experience
Dr. Ashby has an extensive background in higher education, with over 20 years of teaching experience at Riverside Community College District in multiple modalities. In addition to teaching information literacy and computer information systems, she has supported library functions related to network and multimedia, the library services platform, and outreach.
Dr. Ashby has been intricately involved in strategic planning, program review, assessment, and accreditation over the course of her 24-year career in the district. She holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts Global, where her dissertation focused on strategic governance in Guided Pathways implementation. She also earned a Master of Library & Information Science from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Riverside.
Her leadership experience includes eight years as department chair, four years as assessment coordinator, and seven years as the faculty accreditation lead. She was a member of the Leading from the Middle Team that developed the new assessment process at Norco College. Dr. Ashby most recently participated in the review and update of the Strategic Planning and Governance Manual and assisted with the mission, vision, and core commitments review process.
Dr. Ashby has served on several California Community Colleges Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Resource Teams and peer review teams for the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. Her colleagues describe her as a collaborative servant leader with deep expertise in institutional effectiveness and strategic planning that centers equitable student success.
