A total of 44 high school students from Upward Bound Centennial and Upward Bound Corona kicked off the academic year with a joint field trip to California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), and the University of California, Irvine (UCI), on Sept. 28.
At CSULB, students toured campus and participated in a hands-on experience at the Shark and Marine Labs, exploring marine life and learning about pathways in aquatic and life sciences. At UCI, students heard from first-generation students at the School of Law about their educational journeys and tips for academic success, then explored the undergraduate campus through a scavenger hunt.
The field trip gave students opportunities to explore college campuses, learn about academic and career pathways, and connect with current university students.
