The Trailblazers Scholars Program officially kicked off the 2026–27 academic year with its inaugural orientation, welcoming first-year scholars for an afternoon focused on building connection, confidence, and a strong foundation for their first year at Norco College.
Students were introduced to the Trailblazers experience, including program resources, expectations, benefits, and the team of faculty and staff who will support them throughout the year. Scholars also participated in interactive sessions focused on strategies for first-year success, including identifying their learning preferences, strengthening note-taking skills, supporting their overall wellness, managing stress, and understanding the importance of sleep and nutrition for academic success.
The orientation concluded with students connecting with their individual equity programs and coming together for a dinner social, providing an opportunity to begin building community with fellow Trailblazers.
The program’s first workshop of the semester focused on Time Management Skills. Moving beyond simply discussing time management, students engaged in hands-on activities that gave them an opportunity to examine how they are currently using their time and begin applying practical strategies for balancing coursework, responsibilities, and their personal lives.
The workshop marks the beginning of a year-long series of Trailblazers experiences designed to give students opportunities to actively practice the skills that support academic success, connection, personal development, and persistence throughout their first year at Norco College.
