Norco College men’s soccer is no longer a rising program—it is the standard.

In 2025, Head Coach Oscar Gaytan was named the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) Coach of the Year, an honor that reflects more than wins and championships. The recognition highlights a culture built on discipline, accountability, and belief. Under Gaytan’s leadership, the Mustangs captured their third consecutive IEAC championship, recorded 16 regular-season wins—the most in program history—and delivered one of the most complete seasons Norco College has ever seen.

For Gaytan, however, success has never been about the trophy case.

“This award belongs to the entire program,” Gaytan said. “Our staff, our players, and the culture we’ve built together—this is a shared achievement.”

Culture Before Championships

When Gaytan took the reins, his vision was clear: process over outcomes. Every training session, film review, and repetition was designed with intention. The result was a team that dominated on both sides of the ball and played with consistency, confidence, and purpose from the opening whistle to the final minute.

More importantly, the Mustangs became known for something deeper than results: a family-first culture centered on high standards, mutual accountability, and a relentless work ethic. Players are challenged to grow not only as competitors, but also as students and leaders, understanding that excellence on the field begins with discipline off it.

Strength in Staff, Power in Unity

The Coach of the Year honor also shines a light on a coaching staff whose collective commitment fueled Norco’s historic season.

  • Assistant Coach Ernie Parra played a key role in player development, training design, and mentorship, helping athletes maximize their potential each day.
  • Assistant Coach Mauro Rafael was instrumental in tactical planning, scouting opponents, and making critical in-game adjustments that frequently shifted momentum in Norco’s favor.
  • Assistant Coach Jose Estrada anchored goalkeeper development and supported daily operations, ensuring the program operated with professionalism and precision.
  • Together, the staff’s trust, collaboration, and shared vision created an environment where players could thrive.

A Destination Program

For prospective student-athletes, Norco College soccer represents opportunity with direction.

Athletes who choose Norco step into:

  • A championship culture with proven success
  • A coaching staff invested in long-term player development
  • A program that values academics, accountability, and character
  • A family that pushes you to be your best—every day

Coach Gaytan’s leadership has transformed Norco College into a destination for competitors who want more than wins. They want growth, purpose, and a pathway forward.

As the Mustangs look ahead, one thing is clear: the standard has been set.

Norco College soccer is not just building champions—it is building futures.
