Norco College celebrates its distinction as a finalist for the prestigious Bellwether Award for the second time. The College was honored for its innovative work on "Holistic Student Supports - A Foundation for Equity in Guided Pathways." Although Norco College did not secure the award, the team delivered a compelling presentation at the 30 Annual Community College Futures Assembly (CCFA) in San Antonio, Texas.

Led by Dr. Tenisha James, Vice President of Planning and Development; David Schlanger, Interim Dean of Student Services; Jethro Midgett, Guided Pathways Counselor; Lilia Garcia, Interim Program Manager; and with the support of Desiree Wagner, Educational Administrative Assistant IV, the presentation and booth highlighted Norco College's commitment to serving a diverse student population. With Hispanic students comprising 59% of the student body and 26% identifying as first-generation college students, Norco College prioritizes equity and access to higher education.

"Our team fought hard and delivered a solid presentation that showcased our dedication to student success," remarked Norco College President Dr. Monica Green. "While we may not have won this time, we are immensely proud of the work we continue to do."

The nominated project focused on implementing a holistic student support process based on Achieving the Dream's Holistic Student Supports Redesign Toolkit. By leveraging existing technology and personnel, Norco College developed customized support plans for each student, resulting in improved student services campus-wide.

Reflecting on the significance of the nomination, Dr. Green emphasized Norco College's commitment to innovation and student-centered practices.

Norco College has a history of Bellwether Award success, having previously received the Bellwether Award in the Instructional Program and Services category for the Summer Advantage Program in January 2015.
