Academic Senate
The Norco Academic Senate, composed of elected faculty representatives, makes recommendations to the College administration and to the Board of Trustees regarding academic and professional matters (defined by AB1725, Section 53200) and facilitates communication among faculty, students, administration, and the Board of Trustees in all matters related to community college education.
All members of the Norco community are invited to attend. Faculty are particularly encouraged to attend and express their views and concerns on a regular basis to their elected Senate representatives.
In the spring of 2010, the Norco Academic Senate formed a charitable, philanthropic, and social organization of faculty called the Associated Faculty of Norco College (AFNC). For information about the new Associated Faculty of Norco College please see here.
The Norco Academic Senate usually meets the first and third Monday of the month in CSS 217 from 1:30-3:30 during the fall and spring semesters. Please see our schedule below for exact days and rooms.

Role of the Academic Senate
The roles and responsibilities of the local senate and its faculty are spelled out in two State venues:
Education Code: These laws are a result of legislation—and can be modified only by subsequent legislative action.
California Code of Regulations, Title 5: The policies and regulations of the Board of Governors, and their interpretations and strategies for implementation of the Education Code, are contained within this collection. Title 5 regulations have the force of law, though they can be modified by action of the Board of Governors without legislative intervention.
