Norco College receives Military Times Best Colleges 2018 & Military Friendly® Award
Norco College is excited to announce that it has received two major recognitions from two military organizations. Military Times ranked Norco College as one of the Best Colleges for Veterans for the third time in four years. At the same time, Military Friendly® notified the College that it has been named a bronze-level Military Friendly® School Award recipient for 2018.
“We are so proud for these recognitions,” said Norco College President Bryan Reece. “This is a true testament of the exceptional service Norco College provides to the veteran community in their transition from classrooms to careers.”
Military Times ranked Norco College 16th among US community colleges
- one of only three California community colleges to make the ranking. In 2015, NC ranked 20th on the Military Times
list and 16th in 2017. The Military Times
Best: Colleges 2018 list, formerly known as Best for Vets: Colleges, included 218 colleges that submitted an extensive, 150-question survey to be considered for annual rankings.
According to the Military Times, the rankings were more competitive than ever, as a record number of schools participated in the annual survey, and less than half made the cut. The colleges were evaluated based on their survey responses and also used data from the Federal Education, Defense and Veterans Affairs departments to determine how schools stacked up across the following five categories: culture, academic quality and outcomes, policies, student support, and cost and financial aid. The rankings will be published online at MilitaryTimes.com, as well as ArmyTimes.com, NavyTimes.com, AirForceTimes.com and MarineCorpsTimes.com.
“Our Veterans Resource Center team is honored to be recognized as one of the leading military serving colleges in the nation,” said Mark DeAsis, dean of Admissions and Records. "While the Center provides comprehensive services, this recognition truly demonstrates Norco College’s commitment to military servicemen and women.”
Military Friendly® also recognized Norco College with the bronze-level Military Friendly school award for 2018. The award showcases the most powerful and effective programs of more than 1,200 post-secondary schools that were designated as Military Friendly® in November. Of those designated, 541 schools have been recognized for excellence in the categories of: academic policies and compliance, admissions and orientation, culture and commitment, financial aid and assistance, graduation and career, and military student support and retention. The names of awardees are published online at https://militaryfriendly.com and will be printed in G.I. Jobs® and Guide to Military Friendly® Schools.
