May is National Foster Care Awareness Month. In America, more than 700,000 youth from every race, ethnicity, culture, and age group are impacted by foster care every year. Norco College will host a Gallery Walk and a dynamic presentation on May 9 to learn about our students’ stories and the challenges they face as foster youth in our educational system and society.
Our guest speaker, Mr. Rodney Walker will share his story as a foster child and about the importance of education and mentoring to motivate and support “at-risk” youth. Mr. Walker is an author, a Morehouse College and a Yale graduate. Please see Rodney’s video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZr3agwQKlE&t=1s
.Gallery Walk is from noon to 12:50pm (food will be provided by Chick-Fil-A & Corral) and Mr. Walker’s presentation is from 12:50pm-1:50pm in CSS 217. FLEX Credit is available.
