Grad Stories (2021)
Norco College School of Social and Behavioral Sciences
Hernandez has been attending Norco College off and on since 2012. She went into the foster care system when she turned two and then again at the age of 14. She reflects on having a far from easy life, recalling traumatic events witnessed as a little girl and adolescent.
Today, Hernandez is celebrating that she is the first in her family to graduate college. She is graduating with a Sociology degree. Hernandez was accepted to California State University, San Bernardino, where she will be pursuing bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Social Work.
“Do not give up, no matter how hard life gets,” Hernandez said. “Being educated and continuing to work hard in school is the only way out of the system.”
