About Us

The Norco College Safety and Police Department is a POST certified agency that complies with all California state standards for recruitment and training, per California Penal Code Section 13522.

Authority & Services

Pursuant to section 830.32a of the Penal Code and 72330 of the Education Code, our law enforcement authority on or about the campus is identical to that of municipal and county law enforcement officers. As such, the Norco College Police Department is responsible for reporting and investigating all criminal matters on campus.

  • Our mission is to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Our law enforcement methods fit within and contribute to the educational philosophy of the District.
  • Our goal is to strive to be one of the most professional college law enforcement agencies in the State of California, and continue to assist our Norco College in its mission to provide higher education to our community.

Working with Other Law Enforcement Agencies

We have Memorandums of Understanding with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, which provide the department with assistance for incidents requiring specialized resources and expertise. These MOU's also provide the guidelines for Norco College Safety and Police to assist municipal law enforcement in providing police services to our surrounding communities.

The Department Today

Norco College police officers are part of the Riverside Community College District Police Department, which employs 28 sworn police personnel to Norco, Moreno Valley and Riverside City colleges. The Department organization consists of a Chief of Police, three Sergeants, four Senior Officers, four Detectives, and 16 Police Officers. In addition, we have 28 Community Service Officers.

Community Service Officers perform regular, non-emergency duties: parking enforcement; traffic control; supervision of college functions and special events; public escorts; assisting public with parking violations; securing college parking lots and buildings; jumpstarts for vehicles; and special assignments.
